More than a writers conference!

I’ve been and am so focused on preparations for the August 3-6 Greater Philly Christian Writers Conference that I almost missed the email from Operation Blessing that today is World Day against Trafficking in Persons. I hope you’ll take a couple of minutes to visit their website. Click here.

Directing the Greater Philly and Colorado Christian Writers Conference is difficult, challenging, overwhelming . . . I’ve kept on (33 years for Philly, 20 for Colorado) because the conferences are about so much more than just getting our name in print.

GPCWC and CCWC is about “writing His answer” to the serious issues confronting our nation and world. Yes, attendees will learn how to write and polish their novels and nonfiction, how to find a publisher or how to indie publish, how to effectively market their published work . . . But they will also be encouraged in our general sessions and a track of six optional “Issues” workshops to address the issues of human trafficking, racial reconciliation, and more. Jeff Mcdonald, Editorial Director of The Salvation Army national publications, will teach a workshop on “What Would God Have Us Say?” Michael Gantt will bring the needed reminder that in our focus on issues we don’t forget that “The Cross Is the Main Thing.”

Our keynotes, workshops, and continuing sessions will be available on CD, but obviously it’s not the same as being at the conference where you can meet one-on-one with our faculty of 57 agents, editors, and authors as well as form deep friendships with other writers. Most important of all, I know God will speak to us and give us needed direction and encouragement for our writing ministries.

Truly GPCWC is so much more than a writers’ conference. Given the precarious “tipping point” that so many believe our nation is at, we can’t assume that we’ll have religious freedom or peace on our streets to hold Christian writers conferences next year. Friends, now is the time to “write and live His answer.”
